Plain-English Privacy Notice
No surveillance. No advertising trackers. No selling your information. Here's exactly what we collect and why.
The short version: We collect only what you give us — your email if you subscribe to the newsletter, plus your name and message if you use the contact form. We use this to communicate with you about North Texas trees and nothing else. We don't sell, share, or rent your information. There are no advertising trackers on this site.
Who we are
Save North Texas Trees is an independent informational resource focused on raising awareness about tree canopy loss in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and connecting residents with ways to help. You can reach us at info@savenorthtexastrees.com.
What we collect
We collect only the information you actively provide:
- Newsletter signup — your email address and (optionally) your first name when you subscribe via our Connect page.
- Contact form — your name, email address, the topic you select, and the message you write.
- Merch purchases — if you order something from our merch shop, the order is processed by Shopify, and your shipping and payment details are handled by them under Shopify's privacy policy. We don't see your payment information.
We don't run analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking scripts on this site.
How we use it
- Newsletter emails — about once a month, with stories about North Texas trees, native species spotlights, volunteer opportunities, and ways to help.
- Welcome email — a one-time email when you first subscribe, with the cause story and ways to share the mission.
- Replies to your messages — when you use the contact form, we read every message and reply when appropriate.
Who we share it with
We use the following service providers to run the site. They each have their own privacy practices, but they only handle your data on our behalf:
- Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) — sends our newsletter and stores subscriber email addresses. Brevo's privacy policy.
- Shopify — runs the merch checkout. Used only on the merch page, and only when you interact with the buy button. Shopify's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used on the site. Loading a font transmits your IP address to Google. Google's privacy policy.
- GoDaddy — our web host, which logs basic server access information.
We never sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone, for any purpose.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking. The merch page includes Shopify's buy button, which sets cart and session cookies on Shopify's domain only when you interact with it (for example, adding an item to your cart). Those cookies are essential to making a purchase and disappear when you close your browser session.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe any time — every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom.
- Ask us to delete your data — email info@savenorthtexastrees.com and we'll remove your information from our records.
- Ask what we have on file — same email; we'll send you whatever we hold about you.
Children
This site is intended for general audiences. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the site, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this notice
If our practices change meaningfully, we'll update this page and revise the "last updated" date at the top. The latest version will always live here.
